I grew up in a very small village in northwest Alaska, so small- according to Wikipedia in 2010- the population was 829. Selawik is approximately 70 miles from Kotzebue.

Selawik  is surrounded by 2 rivers, and 2 bridges connect the lands together. The only way into and out of Selawik is by plane, boat and snomachine (in the winters).

I lived in Selawik until I was 22. I decided to venture off into the world- I didn’t make it far, I ended up in Anchorage. Although I have traveled during the past decade- which I will discuss more in later posts.

I moved onto the island of Oahu for a short period of time but found myself back in Alaska 3 years later.

To be continued….
